What area(s) do you service?ABG is an Alameda County based company, primarily serving the greater Bay Area. Our artistic network however is wide and we have connections throughout the state and country. If you are interested in working with us and are outside the Greater Bay Area/Northern California, please contact us and we can discuss options.
-
What are your fees and payment terms? Do you require upfront payments or deposits?Due to the diverse nature of our services and the artistic solutions we provide, we work with each client to create what they need at the price they can afford. We value transparency and strive to be both fair and cost-efficient in our pricing and quotes for every project. From public artwork to brand identity consulting, we work hard to offer price points that are tailored to the needs of each client. Nearly every project will be provided with tiered pricing options, from the paired down to the elaborate. Our payment terms are, again, tailored for each client and project need, but typically we charge a design fee for the comprehensive proposal and artist(s) connections. Most projects require an upfront and non-refundable deposit before we start working together. The remaining balance is invoiced mid-project and due upon receipt/installation. However, since no two projects are the same, in some cases, we might allow for a different payment plan that suits both parties.

I found ABG through the OnlyUp Mural Fest or other mural installations. I want to have a mural painted, is this something ABG offers?"One of our specialties here at ABG are large scale mural installations through our OnlyUp Festivals. We launched a Mural Fest in Livermore, CA in 2020, as well as in San Leandro and are continuing to push the boundaries of what a wall can say, do, and mean. For mural commissions, email us for more information and availability. See below for more information on our mural offerings, our estimation process, digital proofs, and more.
-
What kind of murals do you paint?Residential Commercial Hotels Restaurants Offices Hospitality Industry Public Art Spaces Corporate Buildings Healthcare Facilities Condominiums and Apartment Buildings
-
What can I send to get a mural estimate? You can send us a combination of any of the following: A picture of the wall or space Wall size or dimensions Location of mural Architectural renderings, elevations or floor plans For our mock-up process of sketching our potential designs, you can send any of the following: Keywords, themes, or specific concepts Any reference images or pictures of ideas you have in mind Interior design specifications, color schemes or mood boards
-
What is digital proofing? We create a digital concept for all our mural designs. This ensures that the client will be able to see what the mural looks like on the wall before painting begins. Once the client is 100% happy with the sketch/concept design and gives final approval we move on to scheduling the project. We charge a design fee for this process that is waived with a 50% down payment on the project.

What is a public art fee?Sometimes called ‘Art in Public Places Fee’ or ____________, the overall concept of the public art fee for developers is that many cities and counties have ordinances that require developers to pay a certain percentage (average is 1-3%) of their overall budget for a development — whether it be housing or retail or mixed use — to be used for public art. This 'fee’ or percentage of the budget is required either to be used by the developer to install public art (murals, sculpture, fountains, etc) on their property or it can be given ‘in-lieu’ to the city itself which will manage that money and fund art grants and initiatives out of those funds.
-
Why not just give it to the city? When a developer gives their ‘Art in Public Spaces’ fee over to the city ‘in-lieu’, they miss the opportunity to both have engaging, brand-boosting art on their own property and they sacrifice the option to pay less money for the same ordinance.
-
Art in Public Spaces Fee aside, I’m a developer/architect who wants art on my property. Does ABG do this regardless of the public arts fee?"Absolutely. (Click Here to schedule a free consult today ) While the Art in Public Spaces fee is one way developers are motivated to engage with the arts, we love to work with developers who love and want art for art’s sake.
-
Why would a development benefit from art for art’s sake? What’s in it for them other than satisfying fee requirements? While we may be biased, being artists and all, we here at ABG believe that art is more than just for show. Intentional art installations can drive foot traffic to retail markets, can activate passive marketing by being leveraged for social media engagement, and have the potential to strengthen the overall branding and differentiate the visual identity of a development in a world where standing out is big business for both retail and high density housing.
-
Do you do art curation for developments and properties? Most definitely. We provide a start to finish art curation and creation service for developers, architects, interior designers, even individual property owners who have a hanker for impactful, dynamic, innovation art both outside and inside
-
What’s the process like for an art curation? Do I have to have a vision already? We work with every client and project to create the best possible curation and creative impact. Whether you have a prepared vision that just needs to be brought to life by our network of talented arts and craftspeople, or you just know you want something impactful, culturally-stimulating, and innovative on your property — we will work with you to make it happen. Every project starts with filling out our interest form Here and having an initial free consultation to get a sense of your scope, project needs, budget constraints, public art fee requirements (if applicable), and general aesthetic direction (if there is one). Once we have a sense of the project, we will develop a proposal presentation for you, including samples from artists in our network that we think may be a good fit for the project at hand. From there, we get into the nuts and bolts of the job, providing you with a fully transparent cost breakdown that is build for your budget scope. Once we finalize the vision (including navigating multiple rounds of revisions with the various project stakeholders), we provide fully mocked-up digital proofs, prompt timelines for execution and installation, and handle all the behind the scenes project management, including all contracts for various artists, materials, insurance coverage, etc. From start to installation, we are your stress-free solution to creative work. What’s the difference between a ‘Logo’ and a ‘Visual Identity’?These two terms, often used interchangeably are actually not the same. A logo is just a mark that visually identifies a brand. It can be a graphic image, the typographical representation of the brand or a combination of both. A visual identity is a broader concept that encompasses all of the visual elements that make up the look and feel of a brand. It includes the logo, the color palette, the fonts, image style, layouts and any other graphic element supporting the brand (business cards, packaging etc). All of these elements are outlined in a brand style guide. Click Here to see examples of both.
-
What is included in a round of revisions? Our process is very collaborative, and when working on your branding, we provide you with sketch design concepts for you to choose, and then rounds of revisions on your chosen one. Each round of revisions refers to you providing with a set of limitless feedback (doesn’t matter if you give us 1 or 20 points of feedback), and us actioning this feedback and presenting the revised concept back to you. Most of our clients don’t use them all up, but they are there in case you need them.
-
What’s the difference between a ‘round of revisions’ and a ‘design concept’?Each concept is an entirely different design or visual direction. We will start by presenting you with multiple concepts, and once you choose your preferred one, you have revision rounds to refine that concept in terms of shape, fonts, layout etc. Usually they don’t involve changing the design concept all together, and prices vary based on the amount of revisions and the desired deliverables.
