As the year comes to an end, we can't help but continue to be in awe of all the creativity that overflows from the Bay. From monumental public art to an intimate creative audio workshop, December has been a month of building and imagining new worlds together. See what we mean for yourself!
WHAT WE MADE
Elliot's 12' Public Art Mosaic Sculpture in Emeryville
Reflective of RCCD’s slogan — “Rotten City Builds Fertile Ground” — ABG’s very own Elliot (@theartistelliot) conjured his visionary powers to create a 12-foot monumental piece showcasing concrete, mosaic, steel, rock, stone, clay, wood, and even living plants. Experience this piece at 1411 Powell St, Emeryville.
WHAT WE MADE HAPPEN
What Are You Worried About? by Tracy Schroth
This November, Bay Street Emeryville was honored to host Tracy Schroth as our Artist-in-Residence at RCCD. Tracy brought with her a powerful and thought-provoking project titled What Are You Worried About?
Through art, interviews, artifacts, and raw expressions of angst, Tracy created a space where visitors could see and hear what people are worried about — or, in some cases, what they are not worried about. Thank you, Tracy, for reminding us of the power of art to connect, provoke, and heal!
Check out pictures and videos of Tracy's What Are You Worried About? at RCCD.
Matilija Poppy Mural by Rachel Perls
The City of Lafayette Public Art Committee has unveiled a striking new mural by Bay Area artist Rachel Perls—the inaugural piece in its Downtown Mural Program. Featuring bold Matilija poppies, the work brings vibrant color and contemporary energy to Mt. Diablo Boulevard, marking a milestone in Lafayette’s growing public art landscape. Our words won’t do the beauty of this work justice, so check it out for yourself at 3578 Mt. Diablo Blvd, Lafayette.
EPICENTER by Jacob Rosenberg and Ted Barrow
"This exhibition celebrates a bygone era, a changing place, and a vibrant community that redefined modern skateboarding."- Ted Barrow
Presented by adidas Skateboarding and GCS Agency, co‑curated by Jacob Rosenberg and Ted Barrow, PDH, and proudly made possible through fiscal sponsorship by the ABG Foundation, EPICENTER honors San Francisco’s Embarcadero Plaza as the birthplace of modern skateboarding.
Spanning two sites — 201 Jackson St (Wed–Fri, 11–6pm) and 100 California St (open 24/7) — the exhibition features archival photography, video, and sound that capture the creativity, resilience, and joy of a community that transformed culture. Running through January 15, 2026, EPICENTER invites visitors to experience EMB’s enduring legacy.

California Avenue Mural Project in Reno, Nevada
The California Avenue Mural Project is a collaborative initiative designed to be shaped by community voices. In Reno, Nevada, we hosted a mural town hall to gather perspectives and feedback from local residents on the potential design. This gathering created space for dialogue, imagination, and collective visioning—ensuring that the mural reflects not only artistic creativity but also the values, stories, and aspirations of the community itself. More updates coming soon!
WHAT OUR NETWORK HAS BEEN UP TO
Pat Mesiti-Miller at Space 1308
On November 2, Pat Mesiti-Miller invited our community to imagine new worlds through sound at ABG’s Space 1308 in Downtown Oakland. Through this community visioning workshop, participants were invited to individually and collectively explore possibilities for worlds beyond the one we currently inhabit—and to literally record their visions.
These audio recordings became part of Pat’s evolving composition of 1,000 Whispers From Our Future, now in residency at Audium SF. Pat’s new project examines the world we’ve inherited—most notably the US carceral system—while connecting these realities to global struggles for liberation and the unwavering desire of the human spirit to be free.
Residency Dates
December 4, 2025 - January 3, 2026
(no shows Dec 25-27)
Thank you for being part of our creative community! Stay tuned for more updates, artist highlights, and exciting projects in the coming months.
